We live in a world where meaningful content gets lost in our camera rolls, whilst sponsored content, ads, and algorithms hijack our social feeds.

This leaves us with cluttered, unorganised photo galleries & an addiction to apps that don’t give us what we truly want:

Connection, not comparison

and

Quality, not quantity.

But it's not just our digital lives that need a little once-over. The physical treasures we hold dear, such as the football programme from your first match with Grandad, a framed photo from your trip to Spain with the girls, or that funny fridge magnet from Amsterdam. These objects carry stories that our minds can't always preserve. Without context and clarity, these precious mementos risk becoming just... things.

Physical Objects: Meet Digital Content.

One day, I finally had enough and deleted all the social media apps from my phone. They weren't adding much to my life, but somehow I was spending more time scrolling than doing anything else, except work and sleep.

My last Instagram post was in XXX and my last Facebook update was back in November XXX when I thanked everyone for the birthday wishes. (Sorry to anyone who's wished me happy birthday since then. I promise it's nothing personal!)

I feel so much better without constantly checking my phone, but there's one thing I miss: sharing photos. Photography has always been a big part of my life; it was my favourite subject in school, and I even worked as a photographer for a bit. When Instagram first came out, I loved being able to share moments and keep a visual diary of everything.

That's actually why I didn't delete my accounts completely, just took the apps off my phone. I couldn't bear the thought of losing all those photos, even the ones with the ridiculous bunny ear filter and all of the lucky ones from my old Pixel 2. (Which is now somewhere at the bottom of the Thames!)

I'm also a bit of a hoarder when it comes to memories: Concert tickets, boarding passes, random souvenirs from holidays - I keep everything! But shoving it all in a shoebox doesn’t really feel like a great way to remember the good times.

Then I had this thought: what if I could bring together all these physical bits and pieces with the hundreds of photos and videos sitting on my phone? The ones that were never quite “good enough” for social media. Put them together and you'd have something that shows what life was actually like, not just the polished version.

We're building something different.

NFCs are already in our lives. If you’ve ever used Apple Pay or tapped onto a bus or train, you’ve used NFC technology. They may not be as sexy or popular as the QR code, but they work very similarly, only through physical taps instead of capturing it on your phone’s camera.

We want to bring NFCs to the mainstream and allow everyone to form a bridge between their physical and digital lives. You upload digital content to our app and assign it to NFC stickers that can be stuck wherever you want, whether it's a frame, a cookbook or a fridge magnet. Anyone else who taps your sticker will see your content on their phone, bringing context to stories, life to objects and personalisation to gifts like we’ve never seen before.

We hope that everyone who uses Memoyo can get more value from their camera roll and bring those forgotten moments to the forefront of their lives.

Your stories matter. Let’s keep them alive.

We believe your stories deserve better than the infinite scroll.
